The Great Migration Curator Talk

Join us and Guest Curator Clottee Hammons as she tells personal and in-depth stories about The Great Migration exhibit.  Hammons will expand the common historical narrative of Arizona to include African Americans beyond one or two accomplished individuals, and enumerate the presence and contributions of African American migrants and refugees. By illuminating the past, she hopes to end the ongoing dismissive exclusion of African Americans from Arizona history.

This talk accompanies her exhibit The Great Migration: Indiscernibles in Arizona which weaves together the varied circumstances and the shared threads of experience surrounding the migration of African Americans to Arizona. And don’t miss Soul of the Great Migration: A Celebration of Black Music on February 14 from 9am to 6:30pm.

The Great Migration: Indiscernibles in Arizona is part of a larger multi-disciplinary project of the same name developed by Emancipation Arts, LLC in collaboration with ASU’s School of Human Evolution and Social Change.
